Panguipulli (Land of Lions) 
The commune of Panguipulli, is located to the Northwest of the province of Valdivia ,in the Region of the Lakes, and it counts on a surface of 3,292 km 2. It limits to the North with the commune of Villarrica, the West with the commune of Lanco, to the East and Southeastern with the Argentine Republic , and to the South and Southwest with the communes of the Lakes and Futrono. 
The commune is located in a area privileged by mountains and lakes; associated to the phenomena of glacial erosion. 
The climate is defined as warmed up - rainy with Mediterranean influence, predominating winds of the north in winter and southwest at time of summer. The annual average of rain is of 2,588 mm in Panguipulli reaching to 4,440 mm in Fuy Port. 
The Population Composition of the commune of Panguipulli characterizes by its high rurality and population dispersion. The commune counts with an important amount of population mapuche, that would reach to 38.5% of the total of the population. 
The economic activity of the commune is centered mainly in the agricultural, forest, commercial and tourist areas, acquiring this last one, in recently time, a preponderant roll for the community. 
This commune counts with an important amount of rivers between which they stand out the river San Pedro, Llanquihue, Fuy, Chanchan and others, with mighty torrents that experience important swellings at the winter time. It`s characterizes also in having a great amount of lakes, of great tourism atracction: Lake Panguipulli, Calafquén, Pullinque, Pirehueico, Riñihue, Neltume and Pellaifa.
